NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 16, 2010 “Clean Energy BC – Representing British Columbia’s Clean Energy Sector” Vancouver, BC – Clean Energy BC is the new name adopted by the Independent Power Producers Association of B.C. at their annual general meeting yesterday. “Our new name better reflects who our members are and what they do,” said Paul Kariya, Executive Director of the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (Clean Energy BC). “We advocate for clean energy resource development on behalf of our members who develop these projects and provide a myriad of support services to the sector.” “Our mandate is to serve the public interest by providing cost-effective electricity through the efficient and environmentally responsible development of British Columbia’s clean energy resources,” added Kariya. Clean Energy BC has 320 members, comprised of developers and support services that provide clean energy from bio-mass, run-of-river hydro, wind and other fuels including potential wave and tidal locations along BC’s coast. Clean Energy BC works in partnership with First Nations, BC Hydro, and provincial and federal governments and local communities. The clean energy sector is poised to contribute significantly to new jobs, capital expenditures and investments in British Columbia.
