The Workshop will bring together representatives of federal, provincial and territorial governments, electricity generators, and renewable energy industry associations to seek their views on the development of the selection criteria that will determine which renewable energy technologies will qualify for the incentive.
Three IPPBC Board members are planning to attend. Reps from another 6 companies that are IPPBC members (2 of whom also have IPPBC Board members) are also planning to attend.
These reps are a pretty good cross section of B.C. renewable fuels and company types, and they also reflect those members that have had expressed the most interest in RPPI to me. However I see no B.C. biomass or ocean energy reps.
I have invited and received comments from a biomass-focused IPPBC member on the Paper and will relay them to NRCan. I also called an ocean energy IPP that was an IPPBC Director earlier this year who informed me he will be represented by OREG.
I encourage all members to read and comment on the Discussion Paper. You can send your comments to NMcCartn@NRCan.gc.ca or, if you wish to make anonymous comments then send them to me to sanitize and forward on to NRCan or to give to an attending IPPBC Board Member.
Thanks, Steve
