"Generation for generations - Optimizing electricity production throughoperation, maintenance and enhancement of our generation assets." BC Hydro has an obligation to serve its customers. BC Hydro’s commitment is todeliver a secure, reliable supply of power to all of its customers at thelowest possible cost. BC Hydro was recently reorganized into lines ofbusiness to better meet this commitment, and the Generation Line of Businesshas a key role to play. The Generation Line of Business (Generation) task is todetermine how to optimize BC Hydro’s Heritage resources to benefit its customersfor generations to come. From First Nations concerns to uncertainty forBurrard Thermal to transmission constraints, Generation must overcome thesechallenges to meet its customers needs. Equally important, Generation mustcapitalize on key opportunities such as maintaining and enhancing the valueof existing facilities and investing in upgrades such as Mica and Revelstokeand developing an opportunity at Site C.In her luncheon address, Ms. Farrell will discuss the challenges,opportunities and strategies to ensure the Generation Line of Business andBC Hydro can continue to meet its obligation to supply customers with lowcost, reliable electricity.
The June 14 meeting is also the Annual General Meeting of the CanadianInstitute of Energy (BC). The Chair of the current Executive Committee willpresent a brief report together with the slate of executive directorsproposed for the new year.
